Passengers are greeted at Mount Barker Station readying for an on time departure of 7:00pm. Passengers sit back and relax listening to the sound of the steam loco pacing the grades and watching the lights as we flash past Mount Barker and Strathalbyn. Passengers arrive at the Riverside town of Goolwa with a bus waiting to take them to their lodging for the night.
Accommodation is at the Goolwa Motel, the Goolwa Caravan Park cabins or BYO swag and the bus will drop you off at the Goolwa Caravan Park.
Saturday morning starts off with a lovely Danish pastry, then onto the train along the coast. With the sunrise just over an hour ago, it should look fantastic. Arriving at Victor Harbor passengers are greeted to a cooked breakfast on the platform, while attendants look after your luggage for the day. Passengers can wander around the streets, island or even a tour of the area for the day. Another option is for the passengers to catch The Hills Encounter back to Mount Barker, to spend just over 2 hours in the Hills and then return back to Victor Harbor, in time to re-join The Overnighter train back to Mount Barker.
After a day of perusing the lovely seaside town of Victor Harbor, it’s time for our journey homeward bound. Sit back as the train heads out of the coast, Goolwa and on into the evening to Strathalbyn for our two course meal at the Victoria Hotel. After the hotel meal, it’s back onto the train and into the night arriving at Mount Barker around 10.30pm.
