Welcome to South Australia's SteamRanger Heritage Railway
SteamRanger is currently working through the revised state government restrictions and will return our train services in a staged approach in order to protect our valued customers, staff and volunteers.
Accordingly, Cockle Train services between Goolwa, Middleton, Port Elliot and Victor Harbor will recommence as scheduled from Sunday 1st August 2021.
Owing to the residual risk from the recent Covid-19 outbreak, our medium and long distance train services from Mt Barker, will recommence as scheduled from Sunday 8th August 2021.
The Southern Encounter service scheduled to operate from Mt Barker to Strathalbyn, Goolwa and Victor Harbor on Sunday 1st August 2021 has been postponed, and will now operate on Sunday 22nd August 2021. Booked passengers are advised to keep an eye out for an email from our booking team regarding this postponement.
All passengers are advised that until further notice, masks and QR code check-ins are mandatory on all SteamRanger property and train services
SteamRanger Heritage Railway operates a number of different heritage steam and diesel hauled tourist trains between Mt Barker in the Adelaide Hills, up over the crest of the southern Mt Lofty Ranges, down to Strathalbyn and on through the coastal holiday towns of Goolwa and Port Elliot to the tourist resort town of Victor Harbor.
Trains operate over 200 days a year and are manned by volunteers from the Australian Railway Historical Society, who are also responsible for maintenance of the rail line and the heritage locomotives and carriages.
